Alumni Advisor – Alex Shockley

Alex Shockley is Alumni Advisor of HOBY Maryland, stepping into the role in April 2024. Alex was a HOBY MD Ambassador in 2012 and has volunteered with the organization ever since. Most recently, Alex served as the Seminar’s Director of Program for four years. Professionally, Alex is the Director of Global Responsible Sourcing & Sustainability at Hilton Headquarters, where he leads ESG strategy to enable a sustainable and resilient supply chain for Hilton’s 7,500+ hotels globally. In his previous roles at Hilton, he helped develop and announce the company’s first ever corporate foundation, launched Hilton’s Travel with Purpose 2030 Goals, and improved owner relations to fortify Hilton as hotel owners’ brand of choice. Alex also serves as a Leader of Hilton Headquarters’ Pride Employee Resource Group, responsible for organizing global diversity programming events for employees in order to advance LGBTQ+ inclusivity across the company and in our greater society.

Alex is committed to giving back to his community and enabling future leaders of society. He also served a two-year term as Board Member & Treasurer of Safe Place International, an NGO that empowers doubly marginalized refugees (particularly the LGBTQ community) with leadership development and skills building. Alex is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, where he finished his four years as a Schreyer Honors Scholar with a B.S. in Hospitality Management.
