Contribute
HOBY Maryland is only made possible through contributions from the community. We are run on the commitment of our volunteers and generosity of our donors. This page shares opportunities for you to make financial or volunteer contributions.
Financial Opportunities
This year we will continue to be in a face-to-face environment, with expenses amounting to over $200,000 to bring over 250 high school students and over 100 volunteers together for our 4-day flagship seminar. We expend no money for the monthly lease of an office and have paid no staff or administrative personnel, since our staff is composed entirely of volunteers. One hundred percent of our funds are used for the charitable purposes of our programs.
HOBY Maryland welcomes donations from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). Please use the following:

Sponsor a Student
Even as we strive to keep our costs low, we feel the effect of increased lodging, transportation and postage expenses. Our cost per student has risen to more than $450 per student. Schools are asked to pay a registration fee of $250. Sometimes this fee is paid by the parent/guardian. Leadership potential can be found in every corner of our state, and the ability to pay should not be a consideration. Sponsoring a high school sophomore to become a HOBY Ambassador ensures that there is no cost to them, their parents, or their high school.
If you have any questions about donating or would like your sponsorship to go towards a specific school or county, please contact our seminar chair.
Seminar Expense Donation
The in-person state seminar expenses for room & board and program supplies (over $200,000) come from generous sponsorships from the private sector, service organizations, and individuals.
Gifts-in-Kind
Another method of showing support for the seminar is the donation of products or services in-kind. Our Amazon Wishlist contains key items needed for the seminar. Gifts-in-Kind sponsors will receive benefits (see Donor Tiers below) commensurate with the cash value of the donation made, and they will be recognized in the seminar program book.
If you have any questions about Gift-in-Kind contributions, please contact our operations team at operations@hobymd.org.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers make a significant impact on the experience, and lives, of our Ambassadors. While helping to facilitate, our volunteers have the opportunity to participate in the HOBY experience while reevaluating their own life goals with the Ambassadors around them.
Coming from all over the state, country, and sometimes world, volunteers bring a wide variety of views, connections, and perspectives which challenge and teach the Ambassadors how to develop critical skills to help them grow. Whether it is as a Team Alumni member, facilitator, keynote speaker, or panelist, our volunteers have a variety of opportunities to get involved. With volunteers aged 17 to 80+, HOBY seeks out energetic and driven individuals who want to make a difference, motivate young people and serve their communities.

Team Alumni
If you are a HOBY Alum, have not graduated from high school yet, and want to volunteer at seminar, Team Alumni may be for you! You will work with a team of other Alumni to help deliver the best seminar experience to a new group of Ambassadors.
Contact teamalumni@hobymd.org for more information.

Facilitation Team
The facilitation team works directly with small groups of Ambassadors throughout seminar. From fostering a team, debriefing a range of topics, and participating in a service project, Facilitators and Junior Facilitators guide their group of Ambassadors through their seminar experience.
Reach out to facilitation@hobymd.org if you are interested in joining the team.

Program
Our Directors of Program plan seminar weekend down to the minute.
If you are interested in being a guest speaker or have a service project our Ambassadors can help with during seminar, email program@hobymd.org.
