Zainab Mirza, 2027 Leadership Seminar Chair

Zainab Mirza was the Leadership Seminar Chair (LSC) for the 2026 HOBY Maryland Seminar, and will be serving in the same role for the upcoming 2027 Seminar. Originally from Ocean City, Maryland, she attended HOBY MD in 2014 and has been an active volunteer for 12 years. During that time, she has taken on numerous leadership roles, including Team Alumni, Junior Facilitator, Co-Founder and Director of Green Team, Director of Team Alumni, and Leadership in Action Coordinator. Her favorite part of HOBY is witnessing the “lightbulb moments” when both ambassadors and volunteers discover new possibilities for themselves and their communities.

Professionally, Zainab is the Co-Founder and Co-Host of Watts the Tea, a social media brand focused on explaining clean energy concepts, and is a consultant to various clean energy organizations. She earned her degree from American University.

Outside of work and HOBY, Zainab enjoys spending time in cozy cafés with a good book, practicing yoga, swimming, and planning her next adventure abroad.
